So I’m one and a half weeks into this vegan diet and I have meat cravings. It’s the slight smells that drift around the office at lunch when my colleague cook themselves lunch. Torture!
For two days I had egg cravings, today it has been for curry. Lovely Butter Chicken curry. I would kil… Actually I guess I wouldn’t, though this gets tougher and it’s only been 9 days!!
I would say the hardest is eating out. I’m new to this and it is hard for me to even know what’s in the food listed on the menu and I feel like such a fool asking. So far so good tho, last night out for dinner and didn’t compromise, go me!
I think in future I will allow dairy and egg in my meals if I eat out as I don’t want to cause to much disruption. Of course if I find on the menu something bean Ill take it, but I’m not going to bother making up a meal to cater to my vegan beliefs. Not yet.
Today before going to the movies with my brothers I was highly tempted to chow down on some curry from across the road. I had thoughts “you can be a hypocrite Jordan, just do it, go get curry. Eat some meat”. It seemed so easy, so tempting. Instead I found one piece of bread left in my stash and toasted it with Vegemite on top. The craving passed, don’t really want curry as I write this. Feeling full after some more toast with Marmite on it, for my b12; as today I learnt there is no b12 in Vegemite. B12 is vital for good health, pretty much only comes in meat, so I’m told. Which makes it hard.
My mind still feels strongly for vegan-ism, but I get doubts now and again. Such a drastic change in my life is certain to shake me up. My whole concept on my morals and beliefs have been flipped on it’s head n slowly stirred.
I’m rather confused.
I have recently reviewed my thoughts on eating meat. I have always thought warring meat is natural and to be frank, tasty. I have no issue with killing an animal to eat it provided it is done in the quickest and most painless way. For a long time I have always been upset by animal cruelty, WSPA ads on tv being the most upsetting.
Not until recently have I look into it on the Internet and learnt about the common practises which take place to bring meat to our table. The process is something out of a Nazi regeme. Due to over population the need for cheap and fast meat has lead us to produce meat in un unacceptable way. As such I am “trying” a vegan diet to see if I can hack it.
For lunch today I had hummus and tomato in a frenh stick – was yum.
Washed down with soy milk – again yum
And lastly I tried some soy yogurt, strawberry. That was also yum. So far so good.
Dinner I had kidney bean birettos. Onion, mushrooms, pareka, cumin, tomatos, kidney beans. Was tasty, tho lil odd. I’m not a big bean eater tho love baked beans.
Let’s see how long I can do this!

Well at 4:01pm local time I locked in ‘Jordancarter’ as my facebook username which now means you can checkout my facebook profile at facebook.com/Jordancarter. I was checky and tried to get Jordan but it was taken, oh well I’m happy with what I got! What name did you pick?
At this very moment if I search for ‘jordan carter’ This site gets put 9th, so I’m on the first page. That’s great, if someone is looking for a particular person then I would think they are willing to atleast look through all of page one on Google.
The reason I have so easily and quickly jumped up to the first page is because of using the Made From New Zealand widget which links back to every post I do that includes a person or company from Made From New Zealand. <- Just like that.
So if you want to quickly boost your rank in Google and you talk about people or businesses in New Zealand then head on over to Made From New Zealand, sign up and add your blog. Install the widget and get blogging!
I have setup this blog to create a single cohesive portfolio of my online presence. I will provide a little bit of information about me and what I’m about. I currently have a technical blog over at www.wetware.co.nz/blog which talks about iPhone Dev, Rails solutions and other web dev stuff. Most people who know me have gone to that blog and not understood a word, so here I will speak only english and nothing too techy!
I decided to do this because I am not represented by my name Jordan Carter in Google. If someone looks for me online, they pretty much can’t find me. So here is my attempt to take over my name on Google. Wish me luck! I think the best start was the domain jordancarter.co.nz. There is a jordancarter.com but hey, can’t win em all. What I have on my side is a little bit of SEO knowledge which I gain from my job at Made From New Zealand. You can check out my profile Jordan Daniel Carter and see some videos which I am in.
